What is a Giclée?

This is an excellent question. Nowadays, with advances in technology and digital printing it’s more important than ever to know the difference between a giclée print vs digital print, especially if you intend to purchase a fine art reproduction.

The explosion of smart phones, devices, and home office printers along with the internet has given the ability to print any image imaginable into the hands of everyone. A person can simply print an image from their phone or computer on their home printer. This type of printing is called digital printing. Digital printing may be convenient; unfortunately, it’s not designed to last. The qualities of the materials used to make these prints are not archival. Within weeks noticeable damage will occur to digital prints from the sun and the humidity.

It’s easy to waste a lot of money on art prints that won’t last these days, which is why it’s so important to make sure the fine art you purchase is made from archival materials.

Giclée prints can be made to reproduce any form of 2-D artwork, such as oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings. In order to create a giclée print, four major criteria must be met during the printing process:

Resolution- The original piece of art should be professionally scanned or photograph at 300 dpi or higher resolution.

Ink- The ink must be pigmented (not dye). There also needs to be 8 or more different colored pigmented inks used in the printer.

The canvas must be 100% archival. With that said there are a wide variety of materials available for giclée printing (as long as it’s archival).

Printer- The printer itself must be a wide format ink jet printer, specially designed for this kind of art (This is not your everyday household office printer)

We take great pride in knowing how to create fine art archival giclée prints, so substituting materials will never be an option for us.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Depending on the item you order, it will take between two to three weeks to produce it, inspect it and/or prepare it for shipment. All products are produced in the United States, International orders may need to anticipate extra time in the country’s custom.

If I sign up for the email list, will I get spam?

We do not disclose or sell our customers’ information to any third parties. We value our customers’ privacy. You will only receive updates and exclusive promotions.

Do I need an account to check out?

You can check out as a guest if you do not want to create an account. However, having an account with us makes the ordering process easier and faster as your information is stored on our secure servers.

If I forget my password, what do I do?

Go to your account page. Click on “forgot my password”. We will email you a temporary password to the email address on file.

How do I use a discount code?

The discount codes are applied during checkout. Just put the code in the appropriate box and your total will adjust accordingly.

Do I have to pay sales tax?

We are required to collect sales tax by law. Our website has been configured and connected to a third-party provider to calculate in real time the right sales tax, if any.

Is your site secure?

Our website uses Secure Sockets Layering (SSL) to encrypt your personal credit information, including your credit card number, before it travels over the Internet. SSL technology is the industry standard for secure online transactions.

Can I cancel an order?

Original Painting may be cancelled before shipping, Giclée prints will enter production in a very short period so you may have up to 24 hours to cancel it. Please contact us as soon as possible if you experience an inconvenience.

 

SHIPPING & RETURNS

How do you ship your orders?

Orders within the United States are shipped by FedEx, UPS or DHL.

Do you ship to a PO Box?

No, we only ship to residences and business addresses.

I need it faster. Can I get expedited shipping?

If you require special handling, please contact us via the “contact page” and we will send you a shipping quote for the expedited shipping.

Can I track my order?

Once your order ships out from our facility, you will receive an email with tracking information.

Do you ship internationally?

We do ship internationally, nevertheless we are not responsible for any local taxes or duties that may be required for final delivery in your jurisdiction. Also, sales are FINAL, NO RETURNS.

What is your return policy?

What if my order was damaged during shipping?

If you received a damaged item, please notify us within five (5) business days, via email at customerservice@jennyszita.com, of your receipt of the item to qualify for a return or exchange. Please include pictures and a brief description in the email, also keep the packaging and its contents. We will ship a new package to you at no charge and have the courier company pick-up the damaged order. If the package is lost during transit, we will ship a new product to you immediately.

I returned an item. When will I get refunded?

Once we receive and inspect the item, assuming it is in new and undamaged condition, we will issue the refund immediately. It may take up to five business days for the refund to show up on your credit card statement.
