Winter Wetland carries a stillness that only someone who has lived it could paint. Soft layers of ice blue, ash gray, and muted earth flow across the canvas like the frozen waters of a Wisconsin wetland, where silence is sacred and time seems to stretch out into the trees. This was one of my first originals. I did not know it at the time, but it came from memory, my childhood near the bluffs, the cold breath of winter, the hush of a landscape that knew how to hold space. This is a painting about memory. About the emotional temperature of growing up in a place both beautiful and quiet, sometimes too quiet. Hung in a reading nook, hallway, or bedroom, Winter Wetland does not ask to be the center of attention. It simply anchors the room. Like winter itself, it holds you. Gently. Honestly. Without needing to be anything other than what it is.
